As you know this year is Kingsbury Greek School's Ruby anniversary and it also marks Andreas' 40th year as one of the founding members of the school who is still on the committee and continues to work very hard.
On Thursday, 29th May Andreas received a Brent Community Champion Award at the new Brent Town Hall
The following was included in the nomination made by the Chair of the Committee Mrs Anna Mina:
"Andreas is a very dedicated man. He is one of the founding members of the Association. For 40 years, he has unstintingly and enthusiastically given his time every Saturday to be at the Greek school to set up and greet the children and their parents.
Since it is a voluntary organisation with no external funding, he works very hard to raise funds to help to keep the school going and will visit local businesses to ask for their support, very much enjoying the social and community aspect of this work.
He attends all the Brent Supplementary schools network meetings and ensures that our pupils participate in events such as international evenings. He also ensures that our pupils participate in traditional dances at the annual Wine Festival.
He organises very successful annual coach trips to the coast for the local community bringing together all ages. He also ran a popular youth club for many years. Everyone at the Kingsbury Greek School values Andreas enormously and thinks he deserves to be a Brent community Champion in time for a Ruby anniversary!"
Andreas received his award from the Mayor of Brent, Mr Bobby Thomas
